A man suspected of fatally shooting two women, whose bodies were found inside a car in Riverside Wednesday morning, was taken into custody when arriving officers found he was still at the scene.
Police received a call about 12:11 a.m. from a woman who said her brother had just shot two women in the 6000 block of Alhambra Avenue, a Riverside Police Department spokesperson at the scene said.
Arriving officers not only found the two victims but also discovered the man suspected of shooting them, and the sister who reported the crime, were still at the scene.
“This isn’t something we come across too often, where you have the person still here when police are called regarding a shooting or a murder,” Police Department Officer Ryan Railsback said.
Police are questioning the man, who is in his mid to late 20s, and apparently still had the gun when officers arrived. His relationship to the victims was unknown.
The women have not been identified but were described as being in their early 20s.
Their bodies were discovered in the driver and passenger seats of the vehicle, police said.
Investigators are searching the area for witnesses, Railsback said
