WILLOWS — An Auburn resident was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence after he allegedly crashed a car that was reported stolen, according to the California Highway Patrol.David Meki, 29, was driving a 2013 Chevy Impala southbound on Interstate 5 north of County Road 57 at about 8:40 p.m. when he drifted left and into the gravel center median, according to a press release from CHP. The car struck bushes and came to rest facing south.
A CHP officer who responded reportedly noticed signs of intoxication and placed Meki under arrest after a further investigation.
According to CHP, a check of the license plate of the Impala returned with the license plate not matching the car. A search of the car’s vehicle identification number stated the car was reported stolen out of Washington.
