Arrest Made In December Murder Of Teen

SACRAMENTO, CA – An arrest has been made in the shooting death of 19-year-old Juwan Howard that occurred in December of last year.

According to the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department, Homicide Detectives arrested 19-year-old Taejuan Jackson yesterday in connection with the murder of Howard outside of a convenience store in the 8000 block of Florin Road.

On December 21, 2013, Deputies responded to the convenience store on Florin Road after receiving calls that a man had been shot near the intersection.

When deputies arrived they discovered the teenager, later identified as Howard, with a fatal gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene by fire personnel.

Detectives were able to determine that Howard was with some friends at the convenience store, when a group of males got into a confrontation with the victim and his friends. Shots were fired and Howard was struck in the upper body. He then drove a short distance to the intersection of Florin Road and Franklin Blvd where someone called 911 to request assistance.

Both Jackson and Howard were known to each other.

Taejuan Jackson has been charged with murder and is currently being held without the possibility of bail at the Sacramento County Main Jail.
