SAN DIEGO, CA – Another California mall shooting has taken place killing 1 and injuring another.

San Diego Police are still investigating the Christmas Eve shooting that took place as last minute shoppers hit the mall at Westfield Mission Valley Mall in San Diego in the early morning hours.

According to police a woman, identified later as 22-year-old Ilona Flint, dialed 911, despite being shot in the head and torso at around 1:30 a.m. She wasn’t sure of her location and told dispatchers that she was near the mall.

Officers were able to locate Flint inside a Toyota Camry in the mall parking lot with a second victim, who was a male. He had been shot in the head. Flint was pronounced dead at the scene and the male was rushed to a local hospital in critical condition.

San Diego’s CBS8 spoke to close friends of the family, who have identified the male as 22-year-old Salvatore Belvedere. He was taken to Scripps Mercy Hospital with a gunshot wound to the head. As of Tuesday night, he was in critical condition.

The woman was identified by family members as Belvedere’s brother’s fiancée. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Salvatore’s brother

was with the two at the mall on Monday night and according to family members he’s missing and they have not heard from him since the shooting. Police are not saying if Gianni is a suspect as the investigation is continuing.

During a news conference Tuesday morning, Lt. Mike Hastings said police are reviewing surveillance video.

Hastings went on to describe a possible suspect as a man 5-foot-9 to 5-foot-11 tall and was last seen wearing tan pants. A suspect vehicle was described as a 2008-2011 dark gray Honda sedan, officials said.

Anyone with information about the early-morning shooting was asked to call the San Diego Police Department’s Homicide Unit at (619) 531-2293 or San Diego County Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477.
