Law enforcement in Racine County say they discovered two pipe bombs in the home of a man while investigating allegations of child sex crimes involving multiple victims.

On June 15, the Racine County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant in the home of Kyle E. Gustin, 37, of Burlington in connection with allegations of sexual assault and other child sex crimes, according to a news release. In Gustin’s basement investigators located the two pipe bombs in a safe.

They were later rendered useless by a Kenosha County Sheriff’s Office bomb squad.

As of Tuesday morning, Gustin has only been charged with two felony counts of possession of improvised explosives, according to online court records. He is in Racine County Jail with cash bail set at $5,000.

Numerous counts of child sex crimes are pending as the investigation remains active, according to the news release. Anyone with additional information is asked to contact the Racine County Sheriff’s Office at (262) 636-3312.
