Fleeing burglary suspect captured by Alameda PD

On Monday, November 1, 2011, Concord resident, Christian Israel Chavez, was arrested after attempting to break into an Alameda home.  The APD responded to the scene after a witness reported that Mr. Chavez was engaged in suspicious activity outside of the victim’s residence.

Two Alameda officers responded to the scene and found Mr. Chavez attempting to pry away external window screens in order to gain access to the victim’s dwelling.

When the officers attempted to restrain the suspect, Mr. Chavez fled on foot.  The responding officers were able to secure him a short distance away.  Neither the officers, nor the arrestee, were injured in the process.

Mr. Chavez was charged with felony burglary and resisting arrest.

He was additionally charged with violating a protective order that arose from an October 30 incident where Mr. Chavez was charged with marijuana possession, issuing false identification to a law enforcement officer, domestic violence and battery causing serious bodily injury.
