ST. CHARLES, Mo. (AP) — Opening statements in the trial of a man charged with killing two Kansas City-area women a decade apart are scheduled to begin Monday.

Selection of a jury for the trial of Kylr Yust was completed Wednesday in St. Charles County. The 13 women and three men chosen to serve as jurors or alternates will be taken Monday to Harrisonville to hear the case, KSHB-TV reported.

A Cass County judge previously denied Yust’s motion for a change of venue but ordered that the jury be selected in St. Charles because of extensive publicity about the case.

Yust was charged with two counts of first-degree murder and two counts of abandoning a corpse in the deaths of 21-year-old Jessica Runions, of Raymore, and 17-year-old Kara Kopetsky, of Belton.

Runions disappeared in September 2016 after leaving a party with Yust. Kopetsky disappeared in May 2007, days after taking out an order of protection against Yust.

The two women’s remains were found in April 2017 in a wooded area in rural Cass County.
