Man arrested for yesterday’s shooting in Sacramento

SACRAMENTO, CA – A man has been arrested for the shooting that occurred just before 3 p.m. Friday in the 400 block of 12th Street in Sacramento.

Officers responded to the area after receiving reports of shots fired. When officers arrived, they discovered a female victim in her 20s suffering from a single non-life threatening gunshot wound to her leg.

Investigators were able to determine that the shooting stemmed from an argument between two groups, escalating into the shooting.

The suspect, identified as 20-year-old Demetrius Martin, is believed to have fired a gun as he was fleeing the scene. Martin was arrested in the 1200 block of Delta Street and booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail for assault with a deadly weapon and violation of parole.

The victim was transported to an area hospital to be treated.

This investigation continues to be ongoing as officers are attempting to the identity other involved parties that were on scene during the altercation.
