Three men were arrested in Milpitas earlier this month after police learned they were allegedly cultivating marijuana in a rented home in the 1100 block of Fox Hollow Court.
Acting on a tip, officers descended on the residence on December 2 armed with a search warrant. Investigators seized several pounds of cultivated marijuana, hundreds of marijuana plants, and materials used to cultivate the plants, according to Milpitas police.
The investigation resulted in the arrests of three 30-year-old San Jose men, identified as Truong Huang Pham, Sean Minh Lieu, and James Dinh Hoy Tran, authorities reported. The trio was booked into Santa Clara County Jail for various charges including cultivation of marijuana, possession of marijuana for sales, transportation of marijuana, possession of a controlled substance, and theft of utilities.
The Milpitas Police Department urges landlords to be aware of people to whom they rent homes. Signs that someone could be using a rental home solely for the purpose of cultivating marijuana include: paying rent in cash; changing locks without the landlord’s permission; never being home; altering utility equipment; adding additional ventilation to the residence; and an odor of marijuana.
