HANFORD, Calif. (KFSN) — A woman and her daughter were arrested on Friday after police say they robbed a department store in Hanford and threatened officers.
Investigators say Amanda Lopez, 33, and her 13-year-old daughter stole several clothing items from Susie’s Deals at Lacey Boulevard and 12th Avenue. As they walked out, Lopez said she’d be back later to pay for the clothes. Two employees tried to stop them, but Lopez hit them with her car, according to authorities.
Officers later found Lopez at her mother’s house near Freddie Circle and Elaine Drive, where she and her daughter were taking a shower together. Police couldn’t get them to come out of the shower and dress themselves. In fact, they say the mother and daughter threatened any officers who tried to remove them. But police took Lopez and the teen out of the shower by force.
Lopez was booked into the Kings County Jail on several charges, and her daughter was taken to the Kings County Juvenile Center.
