A Newhall man and his live-in girlfriend pleaded no contest Wednesday to charges related to the sexual abuse of 10 children over a period of 15 years.
Francisco Avendaño, 42, entered no contest pleas to 12 counts of lewd act upon a child under 14, two counts of lewd acts on a child 14 years old and one count each of lewd acts on a child 15 years old and continuous sexual abuse, according to a news release from the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.
Jacqueline Wadsworth, 32, pleaded no contest to one count of lewd acts upon a child under 13, the release stated.
According to Deputy DA Julie Kramer, the alleged abuse began in January 2001 and continued through December 2015.
During this period, 10 children between the ages of 3 and 15 years old were victimized, she stated.
The children included family members and family friends, according to Kramer.
Avendaño is expected to receive 49 years in state prison when he is sentenced on Aug. 3.
Wadsworth is facing an undetermined amount of time in jail, probation and mandatory enrollment in a sexual compulsion program, according to the DA’s office.
Both will be required to register as sex offenders for the rest of their lives.
