Placer Man Pleads Guilty to Producing Child Porn

SACRAMENTO, Calif (April 6) — A Roseville man pleaded guilty to producing, transporting and possessing pictures of minors engaged in “sexually explicit conduct.”

Acting United States Attorney Lawrence G. Brown said Brian Woodin, 40, entered the plea Monday before Senior United States District Judge Edward J. Garcia.

The case is the product of an extensive investigation by the Savannah, Georgia and Sacramento offices of the FBI.

According to prosecutor Laurel D. White the evidence revealed that in June of 2008, Woodin  produced images of himself engaged in sexual activity with a nine-year-old girl and sent those images to another man in Georgia.

A search warrant was obtained for Woodin’s Placer County residence and place of employment, and an analysis was conducted on the computer equipment that was seized from both locations. The analysis revealed Woodin possessed some of the same images that were sent to the Georgia man last year.

When interviewed, the mother of the victim identified both her daughter and Woodin as the persons depicted in the sexually explicit images that were transported to Georgia.  Woodin was also reportedly found to possess more than 600 images of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct, including images of known and previously identified victims of child sexual abuse.  He is scheduled to be sentenced at 10 a.m. June 26.

The maximum statutory penalty for the production offense is 30 years in prison. That charge also carries a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years. The transportation charge carries a mandatory minimum five-year term in prison to a 20-year maximum. The possession charge carries a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison.
