RICHMOND — A Richmond man was arrested Wednesday after violating a restraining order and fighting with officers, a police spokeswoman said.

Police were called about 7:30 p.m. to a home in the 100 block of Chanslor Avenue on reports that the 37-year-old man was violating a restraining order involving his estranged wife, said Richmond police Sgt. Nicole Abetkov.

When police tried to handcuff the man, he became combative and tried to escape, Abetkov said. At that point, an officer used a stun gun on the man to subdue him, she said. No one was injured in the scuffle.

The man was arrested on suspicion of violating a restraining order and resisting arrest and taken to County Jail in Martinez, according to police.

The man’s name was not released in order to protect the woman named in the restraining order, Abetkov said.
