A Santa Rosa substitute teacher has been arrested for possession of child pornography, the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office has reported.
On Thursday afternoon, investigators from the Sheriff’s Office, Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Homeland Security Investigations raided the home of 39-year-old Ethan Monroe Morse in the suburban Roseland neighborhood south of downtown Santa Rosa.
Detectives allegedly found lewd images of children on his phone and booked Morse for possession of child pornography. Morse was released after paying $30,000 bail and is scheduled to appear in court Oct. 21.
The investigation began in early October after a woman tipped Homeland Security about inappropriate texts she received from Morse containing photos of young girls in various poses.
None of the photos were pornographic, but Morse reportedly made several sexual comments regarding the photos, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
While Morse worked in the Santa Rosa School District, police did not disclose which schools he taught at. Officials from the school district or sheriff’s office were not immediately available for comment.
