Shooting at Laveen House Party: 19-Year-Old Woman Killed, Three Others Injured

A 19-year-old woman was killed and three young men were injured in a shooting at a Laveen house party over the weekend.

Phoenix Police Sergeant Trent Crump says the four people were shot outside the house around 11 p.m. Saturday as the party was breaking up.

When police arrived, officers found 19-year-old Nora Osman, who had been shot. She was hospitalized, but was pronounced dead.

The three others who were shot, ages 18, 21, and 22, were all hospitalized and released.

“All of the victims were shot outside of the house, and the suspects are believed to have fled in a vehicle; however, there were numerous vehicles leaving at the time,” Sergeant Crump says in an e-mail. “It also appears that shots may have been fired from someone on foot as well.”

Police haven’t released any descriptions of the suspects or their vehicles at this point.

A person who knows Osman’s family says she was a student at Phoenix College and may have been an immigrant from Somalia.

A man Osman identifies as her brother on Twitter was killed in a shooting in Phoenix more than six years ago.

More details to come.
