A 21 year old man attending Sierra College, 5000 Rocklin Rd. was stabbed Tuesday afternoon at approximately 2pm. The 22 year old suspect, Paul Heintz of 3239 Camelot Dr. Rocklin, ran up behind the victim and stabbed him four to six times.
The victim suffered stab wounds to his torso, while trying to defend himself he suffered wounds to his arms as well. Another student shoved Heintz away from the victim causing him to drop his knife. In a strange set of events the two students sat down next to each other after Heintz finished stabbing the victim, and waited. Given the witness statements it appears that the attack was premeditated.
The stabbing was apparently over a female they both knew, suspected to be Heintz’s ex-girlfriend. One witness Jessica Lee, 21 a student at Sierra College, said, “There were probably 15 people standing around after the fight. There was blood on the ground, not much.”
Lee noted when the fight ended several male students displayed a heavy vicarious nature and machismo, “by pulling out their knives and were carrying them around like who’s gonna do anything about it?”
When asked how many male students carry a folding knife clipped to their pockets, Lee responded emphatically, “A lot” as if everyone at Sierra College carries one.
The victim is in serious condition and is being treated at the Sutter Roseville Medical Center. Heintz was booked into Placer County Jail in Auburn on attempted murder charges. Both the Rocklin Police and the Sierra College Police Departments responded to the 911 call.
