(03-17) 08:18 PDT CAMPBELL — A suspect was arrested early Monday in the stabbing death of a 16-year-old boy at a Campbell park, police said.
About 8:30 p.m. Sunday, a citizen reported that a man was seriously injured near John D. Morgan Park at 540 W. Rincon Ave., said Campbell police Sgt. Gary Berg.
The injured man, later identified as Todd Tharp, a 24-year-old transient, was determined to have been hurt during a “serious physical altercation,” Berg said.
Officers were then notified that a 16-year-old boy had been taken to Santa Clara Valley Medical Center in San Jose with a stab wound. The boy died early Monday.
Police determined that Tharp had stabbed the victim and was hurt in the process, Berg said. Tharp was treated at the hospital and was booked at Santa Clara County Jail on suspicion of murder.
