SANTA ROSA, CA – A couple of teenagers found themselves behind bars last week for credit card fraud and other charges, after Sonoma County Sheriff’s Deputies pulled the pair over in a $240,000 sports car.

According to the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Department, deputies are still gathering information about how the pair was able to rent a luxury sports car and a $12 million vacation home using allegedly stolen credit cards.

On Wednesday June 4, deputies pulled over Mohannad Halaweh of Rohnert Park, and Nhimia Kahsay of Santa Rosa, both 19, on Dutton Avenue in the Roseland area of Santa Rosa. Halaweh was driving an orange McLaren sports car that had been rented for $13,000 by the dynamic duo, but was reported stolen to police.

According to investigators the two used stolen credit cards to rent the McLaren and paid $27,000 to rent a $12 million vacation home in the Glen Ellen area.

Halaweh was arrested on suspicion of possessing stolen property and credit card fraud and Kahsay was arrested on outstanding fraud warrants and will be facing additional charges.

Anyone with information about the case should contact Detective Donald Fletcher at (707) 565-2202.
