SAN MARCOS — An uncle and his nephew were arrested early Monday after resisting arrest in connection with the burglary of a San Marcos church.

Deputies were called to the Apostolic Assembly of the Faith on Smilax Road near South Santa Fe Avenue about 12:30 a.m. where they confronted the pair when they ran out of the church, Sheriff’s Lt. Jason Vickery said.

The 26-year-old uncle and his 18-year-old nephew were uncooperative with deputies who used force to take the men into custody, Vickery said. The uncle was shot with a stun gun, the lieutenant said.

He was identified as Daniel Arango and the teen as Luis Arango.

Both were booked into jail on charges of commercial burglary, conspiracy and resisting arrest.

Vickery said the pair had stolen property and cash after forcing entry into the building.
