(KUTV) — A St. George man is behind bars after he reportedly shot and killed his roommate on Tuesday, according to a probable cause statement.
Officers with the St. George Police Department responded to a reported gunshot near 514 S. 1990 E. at approximately 9:30 p.m.
Upon arrival, they found a 23-year-old man with an injury in his chest. He was still alive, but unresponsive, police reported.
The man was transported to Dixie Regional Medical Center where he later died from the injuries sustained in the shooting.
The man’s roommate, Tommy James Bradshaw Jr., told officers that he was in the residence when the 23 year old had returned home and “hit his bedroom door loudly.”
The probable cause document states Bradshaw then took a handgun from his closet, deactivated the safety, operated the slide and left his room to find the man.
Bradshaw located the victim in a closet and pointed the gun at him before pulling the trigger, police reported.
Bradshaw was subsequently taken into custody and transported to the Washington County Correctional Facility.
