Violent boyfriend flips car in police chase

Vacaville – After a high speed car chase Friday morning, Derrick Laron Gi, a 45-year-old Sacramento resident, was arrested on several charges, including threat with intention to terrorize and vehicle theft, both felonies.

As Gi sped down Weber, he must not have anticipated the road ending at Pitt School. He flipped his car and was apprehended with minor injuries.

The incident began a little after 3:00 a.m. when patrol officers were dispatched to a business in the 1000 block of Leisure Town Road. A female in a panicked state had entered the location claiming her boyfriend was trying to kill her. Just as the officers arrived they saw Gi exit the parking lot driving extremely fast. Police attempted to stop him, but Gi entered I-80 heading eastbound with officers in pursuit.

The suspect continued driving at a high rate of speed, attempting to escape from police, then exited the freeway after approximately two miles onto Weber Road. At the intersection of Weber and Pitt School Road Gi lost control of his vehicle and ended up flipped upside down in a water canal. He was removed safely from the vehicle and transported to Kaiser Medical Center in Vacaville. The suspect had sustained minor injuries.

After being cleared at the hospital Gi was taken to Solano County jail. Other charges included battery, evading a peace officer and violation of probation.
