Woman killed in ‘gruesome’ stabbing at famed Atlanta park

An investigation is underway into the “gruesome” fatal stabbing of a woman at a famed Atlanta park.

The woman, whose name was not released, was found early Wednesday at the Charles Allen entrance of the Piedmont Park, which authorities described as a “gruesome scene,” 11Alive reports.

A portion of the park was blocked off all morning by first responders, including K-9 teams, according to the outlet.

The body was found by another individual in the park, the outlet reports.

The victim was only identified as having been in her 40s, according to 11Alive.

The park is located in the city’s Midtown neighborhood and hosts many local celebrations and annual events, according to NBC News.
